The Launch of Goodwill Goes Glam

President & CEO Laura Robertson welcomed the guests and the signing stars performed “I Belive I Can Fly” warming every heart in the house. Dr. Caraway made a special presentation to Patricia Ruiz, this year’s success story, then attendees went back to mingling and bidding on the Silent Auction Treasures.  Many look forward to the seeing the ”stylish” board members walk the Fashion Show cat-walk each year and once again, they were fun and fabulous.

Then came the big announcement: the video preview of the 2012 Goodwill Goes Glam Fashion Expo weekend.  Immediately following the video, the airy burlesque music beckoned the models and pageant title holders, marking the beginning of the GLAM segment of the fashion show.  One by one each model rocked their ready-to-wear Goodwill outfits.  You could hear the audience members commenting, “…goodness I need to go to Goodwill TOMORROW!” and “…seriously THIS DRESS was found at Goodwill?”

What made this Eco-Fashion show even more compelling was that each look was found within the seven days leading up to the fashion show. Nothing was held or put aside, proving that you can find great glamorous looks at the Goodwill retail locations in Hawaii.

Most men and women out there find themselves coordinating looks from various stores and boutiques.  The same goes for this fashion show, however, EVERY item of clothing worn on these models was from Goodwill.  The shoes and vintage jewelry were mostly from the collection of stylist extraordinaire, Kyle Kagamida of Kagamida Styling.  Kyle created each GLAM look from head to toe.  We were so blessed to have him leading the Glam Squad.
